Guidlines for Christmas

JESUS SAID, “WHATEVER YOU DID FOR ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE BROTHERS OF MINE, YOU DID FOR ME.”  As you undertake to minister to prisoners, remember that your ministry is to Jesus Himself.  Sending a Christmas card may seem like a small thing, but Jesus will multiply blessings back to you!
Just a few words of encouragement as you begin this Christmas outreach project. You are in a minority because not many Christians want to reach out to prisoners. Prisoners are among the “least of these” Jesus spoke of.  Prisons are a vast mission field.  Consider yourself a missionary.  God will honor your efforts.  You will be blessed for every moment, every prayer, every stamp, every word of encouragement and every card you invest in this project.  Eternal rewards WILL be yours, and you will be amazed at how God will bless you for your obedience

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES

  1. If you are currently a volunteer with the Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC), you are not allowed to participate in this project.  However, please pray for those involved.  You may host a Christmas Card party for other volunteers.
  2. PRAY FOR THE PRISONERS YOU SEND CARDS TO.
  3. Use new cards only.  Do not use glue or STICKERS on anything.
  4. Please send Christian Tracts.  Prisoners hearts are open this time of year like no other.  Do not send tracts that look like money. You may write a verse of Scripture and a short word of encouragement such as:
“Be assured you are not alone.  Jesus has promised to never leave you or forsake you.”  “Draw close to the Savior today. James 4:8, “If we will draw close to God, He will draw close to us.”    “Jesus came to give you joy this Christmas and always. He is there for you.”  (Use the name of Jesus!  There is power in His name!). Do not put stickers anywhere on the card or envelope, or send anything with glue.
  5. Be sure to include the PWFP prayer request form. Write YOUR CODE on the bottom of every prayer request form you send.  Many of the responses come back on these forms
    SEND NOTHING ELSE!!!

  1. Do not have a child write or draw in the card. Children are not allowed to participate.
  2. Sign the card with your first name only plus the CODE assigned to you.  Do not give your last name. Use the Prayer Warriors For Prisoners return address, not your own.  DON’T FORGET TO PUT A STAMP ON EACH CARD!!  (Last year, cards were returned because they did not have stamps.)   Put your assigned code on the bottom of each prayer request form you send and with the return address.
  3. Place the prisoners’ address labels in the appropriate place and the PWFP label in the return address location.  Many folks reverse these and the cards are sent to PWFP and it is time consuming and expensive to redo envelopes and send them on the prisoners’ they were intended for.  If there is no DOC number with the address of the prisoner, please call us.

Thank you and God bless you for this labor of love.  If you have questions please re-read the guidelines, and if it is still unclear please call or e-mail us.
