GREAT FOOD, FELLOWSHIP AND FUN IN THE MAKING! YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!
Do you know that each year in Colorado thousands of prisoners are released? Regardless of the number released, prison population continues to grow at an overwhelming rate, escalating your tax burden. Upwards of 65% of prisoners released will commit another crime within three years and return to prison. This page is an invitation for you or your organization to make a difference in prisoners’ lives. The desired effect will be safer communities, fewer victims and a lower tax burden.
PRAYER IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN PRISONERS’ LIVES. Since it’s inception in 1987, Prayer Warriors For Prisoners (PWFP) has grown to reach prisoners around the world with the life changing Good News of Jesus Christ. Prayer is the connection between man and the only One with power to change hearts. Nothing will impact a prisoner’s life more powerfully than prayer. The answer to the high crime rate is TRANSFORMATION, not reformation!
To expand the work of making a difference in our community and prisoners’ lives, Prayer Warriors For Prisoners will be holding a fundraising banquet. The banquet theme is “BRINGING IN The HARVEST” and will be take place on September 25, 2008 at 6:30 PM at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Colorado Springs. Let me encourage you to prayerfully consider being a part of this event by sponsoring one or more tables for $350 each. You may host your tables or find others to host them. PWFP volunteers will also be available to fill and host tables. Each table host will have the honor of inviting 9 other guests to enjoy a wonderful meal and great speakers with information about the PWFP mission at no charge to your guests. It is important, however, to tell the guests we will have pledge and donation forms available that evening.
The purpose of the banquet is two-fold: to inform more people of the many ways PWFP is reaching prisoners for Christ and offer opportunities to participate. Our vision is to effect change in more prisoners’ lives but, in order to accomplish this, our core donor base must expand. The success of the our first banquet last year proved that this is an ideal way to accomplish both goals.
As a table sponsor, you are not required to attend the banquet although we would love to have you. Banquet sponsors are recognized in both the banquet program and our newsletter, unless you direct us otherwise. It would also be a privilege if you would like to invite guests who may be interested in getting involved in a meaningful way to fill your table. Each table will seat ten people. You will also benefit by inviting guests who may be interested in knowing about the ministry. Each table seats ten people.
Crime - Bulging Prisons – Huge Tax Burden. These issues impact us all. PRISONERS NEED JESUS! Of course, for Christians, our greatest concern is for prisoners to know Jesus Christ as Lord and their lives WILL be changed for eternity. I hope you will join us in our efforts. If you have questions, please contact me. I will follow up this letter with a phone call in a few days.
Respectfully,
Jan McLaughlin Forman, PWFP Co-Director
P.S. Prisoners need the love of Christ and to understand He has a better way! Please join me in this event and together we can impact more prisoners’ lives by continuing to build a strong prayer team. Simply contact Jan or Dawn to reserve your table(s).
Thank you for praying, please continue to pray for wisdom as to how God would have you participate and expand YOUR mission outreach in the prison mission field.
Prayer Meetings:
Colorado Springs Third Tuesday of each month 6:30 – 8:00 PM
Georgetown Square Apartment Complex club house, just north of Constitution on the east side of Academy. Everyone is welcome for a time of fellowship and prayer. If you would like to host a PWFP prayer meeting in your town, contact Jan McLaughlin.
Prayer Ministry
PWFP Prayer request forms are provided to prisoners through the prison chapels. If you are involved in prison or jail ministry and would like PWFP prayer forms to give to the prisoners where you volunteer or work, please contact us.
Freedom Walk Newsletter
Written by prisoners/ for prisoners, this is a vehicle for them to minister to each other and also to have their materials, art, poetry, testimonies published. It is very popular among the inmates and these newsletters as well as the correspondence will reach prisoners in places that volunteers can’t access.
Evangelism/ Discipleship through correspondence
Many PWFP volunteers are ministering to 20 or more inmates through this outreach.
Worship Services in prison facilities
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is presented in these services, as well as information about the PWFP mission to the men in women. Prisoners are amazed that people outside care enough to pray for them. These are like church worship services with music, a message and prayer.
Prison Bible Studies
Currently, PWFP volunteers participate in Bible studies in various prisons. A Beth Moore Bible study, Breaking Free is scheduled to begin in a women’s facility after the first of the year.
