Zion, to give them beauty for

ashes, the oil of joy for

mourning, the garment of praise

for the spirit of heaviness; That

they may be called trees of

righteousness, the planting of the Lord,

that He may be glorified."

Hannah’s beautiful voice singing Beauty for Ashes gave me chills. Hannah spoke through tears when she finished singing, “I call my children every night and sing that song to them.”  We were in the PFPI LaVista Bible study the night before she was released on parole. Her song melted hearts. Most of the women were in tears. The Lord whispered to my heart, “Hannah is one of the PFPI Banquet speakers. She will sing Beauty for Ashes and that will be the banquet theme.”

 

Tall, young and beautiful, Hannah was a delightful edition at the Bible study and she never missed. For people who stereotype prisoners, Hannah would not fit their picture. However, she is just like all of us. A human being, subject to sin, subject to fall, subject to failure. She bounced into action at LaVista and became a light to struggling women trying to survive the dark world of prison. God has given Hannah beauty for ashes. You must meet Hannah and hear her story and song.
